With the year currently winding to a close, we are in the mood to reflect. And, while there have been many highs and lows from over 2021, nothing has filled us with as much delight as the scenes born out of the current fashion scene. With this in mind, we have taken the time to dream up a list of designers that have been making waves this year, just in time to take 2022 by storm. So, head below to enjoy our round-up of the 10 designers to watch out for in 20222…
Chet Lo
Kicking things off this week is the name that was on everybody’s gloss-adorned lips this past fashion week: Chet Lo. Crashing onto the scene with an almighty bang this past September, the Asian-American creative showcased a vibrant collection in collaboration with the fashion incubator, Fashion East – the name responsible for shooting countless designers into the depths of fashion fame, including Kim Jones, Charlotte Knowles and Charles Jeffrey Loverboy. And, it is no surprise that Lo’s work caught the eye of the platform. With each of his hand-knitted pieces boasting vibrant two-tone colour palettes and the irresistibly textured spikes the designer has now become famed for, it becomes clear that he will be dominating the fashion game in 2022.
Nensi Dojaka
By now, Nensi Dojaka’s name won’t be one that is new to you. Having been propelled to the heights of fashion fame after crafting the new sexy city girl wardrobe, every celebrity and their friend has been caught draped in the delicate designs over the last few months. With a warmly-received debut LFW show in September transporting her looks onto one of the world’s most coveted catwalks, to be enjoyed by some of the most elite names in fashion, it became evident that Nensi Dojaka and her revolutionary take on womenswear was here to stay.
Harris Reed
With the Met Gala standing as the most anticipated event in the fashion calendar, it is only fair that one of the most praised designers from this year’s event make it onto our round-up. Enter Harris Reed. Causing quite the stir after crafting the gloriously extravagant and gold-laden get-up, and accompanying feathered halo, that Iman showed off at the New York-bound affair this September, it became clear that 2022 would be a year filled with more of the British-American designer’s structure-focused and gender-fluid masterpieces.
Syndical Chamber
A fashion round-up would be nothing without a dash of ingenious style irreverence. And, because of this, the next label we are pegging as one to watch in 2022 is Syndical Chamber. A brand that pays homage to the wonders of the human form, each figure-hugging dress available on the brand’s site is printed with a chic-yet-sensual naked body, many of which are made all the more quirky with the feature of the 3D water droplet motif. Shout out to the label’s designer, Sergio Castaño Peña we cannot wait to see what you do next.
Erika Maish
If, like the majority of us, you fell victim to 2021’s adoration of all things pearl and bead-adorned, Erika Maish is a label sure to catch your eye and capture your heart. Crafting clothing with innovation and textile manipulation in mind, the American designer’s label is full of bead-laden mini dresses and two pieces that are sure to make a statement. And, with the likes of Simi Haze and Precious Lee sporting the jewellery-meets-garment designs, Erika Maish’s status as an upcoming celeb favourite is confirmed.
Sinead Gorey
When it came to dominating the TL, no one’s clothes garnered as many double taps as those of Sinead Gorey. With the London-based brand’s two pieces currently residing in every influencer’s wardrobe, we quickly became accustomed to seeing the muscle-like skin-tight designs littering our feeds. Now that the Curve Enhancing Digital Prints having left a firm mark on 2021, we cannot wait to see what the brand will drop in 2022.
Emma Brewin
And the award for the most hype-worthy accessory of 2021 goes to…Emma Brewin! The force behind the fuzzy head-toppers that have accompanied Rihanna on dates and Bella Hadid through the streets of New York recently, the England-bound designer has been handmaking each one of her furry creations since her beginnings in 2014, an attribute that has shot her divine hats to the top of every fashionista’s wish list this year.
Namita Khade
With knitwear having a major moment this year, it is only fair that we take some time to celebrate the work of CSM graduate, Namita Khade. Currently possessing the Kardashian stamp of approval, the young designer has been busy dreaming up sexy gowns, perfectly weaved together and boasting earth tones and neutral hues that are currently sending celebrities into a frenzy. Promising to have knitwear cemented at the forefront of fashion over the remainder of next year, Namita Khade is one designer you should not be sleeping on.
Kepler
Calling all city girls! Kepler is the only brand you are going to want in your wardrobe in 2022. A label dreamed up by duo Alexandra Hadjikyriacou and Jaimee Mckenna, the London-based name harks on age-old garment crafting techniques in a bid to create intricate designs filled with dual-toned colour palettes and sophisticated cutouts – perfect for the “refined workingwoman.”
Johannes Warnke
Rounding off this round-up is CSM graduate Johannes Warnke. Ethereal in nature and fluid in motion, each of the designer’s creations is as awe-invoking in structure as they are visually beautiful, which is why they are currently being recognised up by stylists far and wide. Keep your eye on Johannes Warnke, as we are sure to be seeing a lot more from him soon.
