On an airplane, wearing uncomfortable clothing can make the flight seem much longer than it actually is. Comfort is paramount, but there are other considerations as well. Below are some things you should definitely consider when it comes to what to wear to take a flight.
1) Comfortable Shoes
Shoes are one of the most essential items. So, if you plan to wear stylish trainers during your trip or work out during your trip, wear those trainers or running shoes on the plane as well. Not only will you be able to move comfortably through the airport, but you will also save space in your suitcase. Plus, since you will be wearing socks, they are especially useful for protecting your feet during airport security checks. Comfortable ballet slippers are also recommended.
2) Breathable Materials
Even if you don’t want to incorporate athleisure into your in-flight attire, consider breathable materials for your travel attire. Natural fabrics such as linen and cotton allow air and moisture to pass through and provide a high level of comfort while in the air. Non-breathable materials can retain sweat on the skin, causing discomfort that may require a shower. There are also a variety of synthetic fabrics that absorb moisture and provide comfort.
3) Wear Loose-fitting Clothing
Wearing tight jeans on an airplane is not recommended. Airplanes are not the place to wear jeans that are so tight that you can’t breathe or tight clothing that becomes increasingly uncomfortable as you sit in your seat. There is no reason to do so, and it is not healthy to wear tight clothing that restricts circulation. Relaxed pants, and the aforementioned relaxed athleisure garments are good choices.
4) Light Fragrance
Avoid spraying lots of perfume or cologne during your flight.
Leave cologne and perfume for when you land, even if you feel bad for the traveler. Bad odors are not only a nuisance to neighbors, but can also be a more serious allergen. So, keep the air fresh and light when you are in the air.
5) Layering
Wearing layers of clothing will keep you warm and comfortable throughout the flight. Temperatures fluctuate on airplanes, especially on long flights. While it is not always necessary to carry a bulky jumper, especially during the hot summer months, it is advisable to dress in layers to stay comfortable for long periods. Wear a light cardigan, pullover, or blazer over a light shirt. You can also take it a step further by layering a cardigan, pashmina, or shawl. Also, the more you bring, the less you will need to pack.
6) Non-metallic Clothing
Too much glitter may slow you down. You can feel especially sparkly during the holidays, but shiny, metallic clothing can be a problem even before you get on the plane. Jewelry and metallic details in fabrics can make your security check become complicated. So, keep it simple and skip the sparkle, of course, until you land at your destination.
7) Glasses
Many people would rather wear glasses than contact lenses when flying. Airplanes are definitely an excellent time to wear geeky-chic glasses. The air in an airplane cabin is generally dry, which not only damages your skin but can also cause dry eyes. As a result, wearing contact lenses can be quite uncomfortable.
8) Be Stylish
When flying, you should always stay true to your style. Don’t throw fashion out the window just because you’re dressed for comfort and functionality. Start your journey right with a trendy yet practical look and your own personal sartorial aesthetic. After all, you never know who you might meet. And when updates happen to you, you’ll be able to face them in style by dressing appropriately.
