The much awaited day has arrived: your first date! The wrong outfit can wreak havoc on the first meeting with the person we like. So, we decided to give you some advice to help you make the hard choice!
Necklines? High heels? Or jeans and trainers? In short, deciding what to wear on a first date is not easy, and the risk of failing on these occasions is very high. We all know that our outfits can say a lot about us. Whether we are extroverted or introverted or like to be bold or casual and comfortable, our clothing choices can tell us that. Don’t be afraid, don’t be anxious: Here are some simple tips. Scroll down!
Getting Started
Before you start thinking about what to wear and entering the magical world of your wardrobe (and finding something you haven’t worn since 2010), a premise is essential.
There is no perfect outfit that will suit everyone. There are certain items that will make us feel comfortable and confident.
These tips are not rules, let alone basic laws of fashion, but they will give you a hand in those moments of panic, “What should I wear today?”. Let’s get started right away.
Depends on The Occasion
You may choose to dress differently for evening and morning dates. Aperitifs may require even more elegant attire than lunch. But as noted earlier, these are not universal rules.
Certainly, comfortable, trendy jeans and a crop jumper or blazer top are the best attire for a daytime aperitif in a casual setting. If you like jeans and don’t want to give up comfort, these combinations may be for you. Maybe even add a colorful, flashy jacket!
How About Too Elegant?
Another problem is when choosing clothes. What if you always tend to dress too elegantly? Wouldn’t that give us a false and overly serious image of ourselves? Don’t worry, because fashion adapts well to our needs and any style can be elegant, trendy and sporty with a little effort.
Fluorescent bags, colorful shoes, French hats, bright jewelry, and other accessories are versatile and can change the whole look.
Accessories, of course, can make a difference. The bright colors and subtle tones of jewelries are timeless in their charm and romantic spirit, and are appropriate for special occasions such as a first date. While waiting for that first date with our significant other, we need to dress and accessorize in a way that makes us feel comfortable and like ourselves. Try to find jewelry brands that stay true to their mission of meeting women’s needs and fulfilling their self-esteem and sense of security.
Heels or No Heels?
Another question often asked before a first date is the choice of shoes. Should the shoes be high-heeled or flat shoes? Again, the answer is “to each his own”. About what? About you! About your habits.
- If you often wear heels for work or leisure, why not use heels on a first date as well?
- If you prefer flat shoes to heels, choose a nice pair of ballerinas or flat sandals.
- Keep it simple. Certain shoes never go out of style and go with almost any outfit – a pair of neat pumps, for example, are always a safe choice.
- Think about your whole outfit. If you’ve chosen a dark outfit, you might want to add a splash of color with your shoe choice. Remember to coordinate colors for a clean and compelling look.
- Make sure your shoes are clean. First impressions can be anything, especially on a date, so make sure your shoes are clean of dirt and grime.
