Styling Mistakes That Make You Look Older

3 minutes, 20 seconds Read

After a certain age, you can’t be trendy anymore- this is an idea we don’t share! However, we want to wear clothes that make us look beautiful, comfortable, and radiant, not years older than we are.
Have you ever looked at yourself and been shocked at how old you suddenly look? Here are some tips to help you out! The solution lies within details of clothing and makeup.

1) Different Colors

If you wear colors that do not match your skin, hair, or eyes, you will look tired and dull. Knowing the right color for your complexion can help you look more radiant, young, and fresh. Spend some time in front of the mirror to test the colors that suit you.

Stand in front of the mirror and hold a few pieces of clothing in front of you like a scarf. That way, you can quickly see which colors look good on you and which colors don’t look good (anymore). As you age, your skin and hair color will change, so keep up this trick.

2) Concealing Outfits

Honestly, it’s great to be able to hide in more oversized clothes. However, the risk is that it will make your figure look worse. The thing to remember is that there is always something beautiful to emphasize. You can make your outfits look much fresher by choosing well what you want to show and what you want to hide.

3) Eyeliner Around the Eyes

Too much eyeliner around the eyes does not always give a good impression. If you draw eyeliner both under and over your eyes, your eyes will look smaller than they are. It also emphasizes the dark circles around your eyes. Besides, if your eyeliner runs under your eyes on a rainy day, you will look exhausted. Use your eyeliner only above the eyes.

4) Skirt Length

Yes, we all love maxi skirts and dresses. However, there are times in life when the length of your skirt can significantly affect your physical appearance. A too-short skirt will make you look like you are forcing yourself to look younger, while a too-long skirt will make you look older than you are. So what is the perfect skirt length? For most women, just above the knee is the best starting point, but of course, it varies from person to person. Try different ones and choose what you feel comfortable with.

5) Black Clothes

Black is an indispensable color in most women’s wardrobes. It is a color that can be worn in a variety of situations. However, it is good to know that black becomes more contrasting with our skin as we age. It is a color that emphasizes wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes and on the chin. Try wearing black clothes with colored scarves or necklaces to break up the contrast and find what works for you.

6) Old Bras (Size)

Here too, things change over the years. A well-fitting bra automatically makes your clothes look more beautiful because it accentuates your silhouette. Therefore, invest time and money in proper bras and seek advice from the store when purchasing.

7) Dark Lipstick

Dark tones such as brown and burgundy are colors that stand out. As we age, the volume of our lips decreases. Using dark-colored lipsticks will only make your lips look thinner. Therefore, choose a nice glass or a bright color.

8) You Don’t Know Your Body Type

Are you an apple, a pear, an hourglass, or an inverted triangle? Knowing your body type is very important to know the right clothes for you. Clothes that don’t fit you or show your body lines will make you look unrefined and old. Of course, we don’t want that. So, look in the mirror and check your body shape. For instance, if you have an apple shape, pants with striking prints will look fabulous!
